phpBB3 Bulletin Board

It's almost here, the phpBB3 based Bulletin Board System has reached Beta4 stage and I have been playing around with it pretty heavily. Vash and a few others have joined me in playing with the previous BETA Test versions and we have found them to be quite excellent.

Currently we are experiencing about 10 spam bots joining the forums daily, getting around our spam prevention techniques. This is partially due to the forum software we use being out of date, and no longer being maintained for free.

phpBB3 is the answer. phpBB3 is an open-source forum system that is constantly being updated and upgraded. phpBB has been around for a long time, but previous versions did not offer the functionality we required. This new version does everything our current forum system does, and more.

I'd say we are about two months away from making the conversion to the new forum system. I am not sure as yet how we are going to handle the closure of our existing 2 year old forums, but I'll keep thinking about that over the next couple of months.
